Vermont Interfaith Action has joined faith leaders and communities across the country for a week of action as we stand in solidarity with the migrant caravan and all who seek refuge in the U.S. Together, we are calling on the U.S. to end the detention and deportation of immigrants, respect the human right to migrate, and end the militarization of the border. We are responding to the images of women and children being tear-gassed at our borders as they desperately tried to complete the long journey to safety from their Central American countries by holding this art installation and vigil. We will convene at Unitarian Church Montpelier and walk from one art installation to another in caravan fashion at each location we will pause for a moment of silence, prayer, reading, music, dance or thoughts before moving onto the next location. We will end by sharing a few closing remarks on why we are doing this and how others can be more involved in changing immigration policy in VT and the US. Please remember that this is a walking event and dress appropriately for any inclement weather.
